Cloud Solutions Architect

Engagement overview

Symantrix is hiring a Cloud Solutions Architect on behalf of a Client to lead the modernization of their enterprise cloud platform. You will own the target-state architecture across AWS and Azure, define the standards delivery teams build against, and guide a phased migration alongside the Client's engineering leadership. This is a long-term contract engagement placed and managed by Symantrix.

Worksite

Onsite at the Client's Irving, TX office three days per week and remote the remainder. The engagement is managed end-to-end by Symantrix; the Client name is shared with shortlisted candidates.

Job duties

• Define the target-state cloud architecture across AWS and Azure, including landing zones, networking, identity, and governance.
• Translate the Client's business and compliance requirements into reference architectures and reusable patterns.
• Set the technical standards, guardrails, and review gates that delivery teams build against.
• Lead the phased migration of legacy workloads, sequencing cutovers to minimize business risk.
• Partner with the Client's engineering and security leadership on cost, resilience, and roadmap decisions.
• Produce architecture decision records, diagrams, and handoff documentation.

Required skills

• 8+ years in software or infrastructure engineering, with 3+ years in a cloud architecture role.
• Deep, hands-on AWS and Azure across compute, networking, IAM, and managed data services.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform and CI/CD pipeline design.
• Containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong grasp of cloud security, cost optimization, and well-architected principles.

Nice to have

• AWS or Azure Professional-level architecture certification.
• Experience modernizing regulated or financial-services workloads.
• Event-driven and microservices architecture at scale.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field; Master's preferred.

Experience

• Demonstrated delivery of at least one enterprise-scale cloud migration end to end.
• Comfortable operating as the senior technical voice in client-facing settings.
